Stringent Emission Regulations

With the growth of the industrial sector in China, there has been an increase in the wastewater generation. In China, nearly 61.5% of groundwater and 28.8% of river water is classified as highly polluted and not suitable for usage. In order to tackle the contamination of the groundwater and river water caused by the industrial wastewater, the government has imposed stringent regulations to avoid water pollution. After the declaration of the 13th five-year plan, the government initiated Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan, which primarily focus on preventing polluting industries from water contamination. Additionally, the government increased the penalties for violation of the norms. Therefore, such factors have led to an increase in the demand for wastewater treatment technologies, in the country, to a great extent. With the increasing levels of water pollution, the demand for waste water treatment technologies are expected to further rise during the forecast period.

Municipal Water and Waste Water Treatment is expected to have the Largest Share

The major applications of treatment technologies includes preliminary treatment, primary and secondary treatment, tertiary treatment, biological nutrient removal (BNR), resource recovery, and energy generation, etc. Moreover, municipal wastewater treatment involves a lot of biomass therefore, biological treatment is a major step used for the treatment of bio waste. Wastewater technology is primarily used in municipal wastewater treatment. Additionally, the country’s government has been focusing more on the reorganization of the pollutant treatment measures, including water and industrial wastewater treatment. Hence, due to such factors, the municipal sector in the country is expected to witness the highest demand for water treatment technologies in China during the forecast period.
