レポート概要
本調査レポートは、列車用HVACの世界市場について調査・分析した資料で、列車用HVACの市場概要、動向、セグメント別市場規模、地域別分析、競争状況、企業情報、市場機会分析などで構成されています。

The Train HVAC system market is expected to exhibit a CAGR of more than 3% during the forecast period (2020 – 2025).
– Owing to the increasing population and its growing demand for faster, safe and comfortable transportation, economies across the globe are investing heavily in railway infrastructure development. This factor is fueling the market growth for train HVAC systems.

– The increasing consumption of food products has led railway companies and authorities across the globe to invest in reefers (refrigeration cars) that makes the transportation of perishable goods easier and in large quantities. Reefers are specialized containers that give the option of temperature regulation, humidity control, etc. for the storage of special products. This factor is propelling the growth of the train HVAC systems market.

– The rising concern regarding global warming and greenhouse emission has forced many governments to impose strict regulations and emission norms. Rail transport has the highest electrification rate and railway authorities and companies are increasing their reliance on electricity. The HVAC systems are undergoing innovations in controller logic and other components that will increase the overall efficiency of HVAC systems.

Key Market Trends

Increasing dependency on railways

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), rail transport accounts for 7% of passengers and 8% of freight transfer globally. Even in matured markets such as Europe, the dependency on railways is still increasing. Rail passenger transport in Europe increased from nearly 465 billion passenger-kilometers in 2017 to nearly 470 billion passenger-kilometers in 2018. Rail transport contributes 0.3% of CO2 fossil fuel emission globally which is very less compared to air and land transportation. This is one major reason why many economies are improving and further developing their railway infrastructure. Owing to the comfortable transport demand by passengers in overcrowded urban and intercity trains, the HVAC market is witnessing growth in emerging economies such as India and China.

The train HVAC market is witnessing many innovations across such as installment of CO2 sensors and UV lamps for the treatment of supplied air, suppression of noise levels, etc. New HVAC systems need to be designed for new railway systems to cater to the need of customers in different travel customers. For instance, high-speed trains and metro train HVAC systems cost higher than those installed in intercity passenger trains and trams. This factor is driving the market growth for train HVAC systems in emerging economies such as India.

Asia Pacific will exhibit the highest growth rate

China holds a share of nearly 25% in the freight transportation market. Due to ambitious initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative, transportation of perishable goods such as dairy and agriculture products will increase between the member nation. Currently, only 7% of the total freight supplied comprises of dairy and agricultural products. The rail traffic in India witnessed a growth rate of nearly 200% and 150% in passenger and freight traffic respectively since 2000. The train HVAC market will show good growth in India due to the fast development of metro infrastructure. India has nearly 515 kilometers of operational metro track and nearly 620 km of metro track under construction. Another 600 kilometers of the track is planned for the future. Ahmedabad-Mumbai High-speed train corridor, which is being developed by India and Japan, is expected to become operational by 2023. According to the International Energy Agency, India will account for nearly 40% of global railway activity share.

Malaysia and Singapore are jointly developing a high-speed railway called MyHSR that is expected to be operational by 2026. In Thailand, the monorail system is under development and existing transit system is being extended to improve connectivity and fight traffic congestion. Under Inland Rail Program, a 1700 kilometers of freight network is under construction between Melbourne and Brisbane in Australia with the cost of the project to be estimated about USD 10.4 billion.

Competitive Landscape

The train HVAC market is a consolidated one with major players such as Liebherr, Merak, etc. dominating the market.

Trane has developed Stealth Air Cooler Chiller that has the highest efficiency under maximum load conditions as well the lowest sound level for an Air Cooler.
