レポート概要
本調査レポートは、都市ガス供給(CGD)のインド市場について調査・分析した資料で、都市ガス供給(CGD)の市場概要、動向、セグメント別市場規模、競争状況、企業情報、市場機会分析などで構成されています。

India City Gas Distribution (CGD) Market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of over 15% during the forecast period. During 2019, India has around 92 geographical areas that are connected to the natural gas grid for the distribution of natural gas for both domestic, industrial, commercial, and transportation uses. The primary driver of the market is the growing government initiatives to increase the usage of natural gas as a cleaner fuel than the liquefied natural gas (LPG) and the conventional fuels like wood, cow dung, etc. However, the long waiting period for various ministries approvals to lay pipelines and lack of awareness of natural gas uses benefits among people, especially in rural India is expected to hinder the market for growth during the forecasting period.
– Upcoming 9th and 10th CGD round PNG connections and CNG stations are expected to drive the market. It is estimated that upon completion of work for both the bidding rounds, nearly 70% of India’s population would have access to the natural gas uses.
– With the government intention of converting India into a gas-based economy, it is expected to increase the natural gas share in its energy mix from 6% in 2019 to 15% by 2030. The government is also planning to launch its 11th CGD bidding round in 2020, which is expected to expand and cover untapped areas for natural gas access, which would create an opportunity for the market to grow in the near future.
– PNG connections is one of the prominent segments and is expected to dominate the India’s CGD market during the forecasting period. PNG connections includes the domestic, commercial and industrial PNG connection.

Key Market Trends

Increasing PNG Connections and CNG Stations

• India CGD market primarily includes PNG connection and CNG stations. PNG connections are provided to residential, commercial, and industrial purposes, while CNG stations are installed to have natural gas access for transportation purposes.

• Until 2018, eight CGD bidding rounds were completed, which include natural gas access to 92 geographical areas and 11% of total India geographical area. In January 2020, India has nearly fifty-nine lakhs PNG connections and 1989 CNG stations.

• After the completion of the 9th and 10th CGD bidding rounds, the total natural gas access geographical areas increased to nearly 228, which include nearly 70% of India’s total population and 52% of India’s geographical area.

• The 9th CGD round awarded 86 geographical area, which is estimated to connect approximately one crore of domestic connection and install 3600 CNG stations. Furthermore, the 10th CGD round awarded 50 geographical areas, which is estimated to provide connections to nearly two crores domestic connection and 3500 CNG stations. Additions of the connection is expected to drive the CGD market throughout the forecasting period.

PNG Connections Dominating the Market

• Natural gas supply to domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors through galvanized iron pipelines, along with necessary fittings, pressure regulators, and a meter, is termed as PNG connection. Natural gas supplied primarily consists of methane gas and is considered as one of the cleanest forms of energy. Domestic and few commercial connections used it as cooking gas, while industrial connection used it as heating purposes.

• During January 2020, there are fifty-nine lakhs domestic PNG connections, twenty-nine thousand commercial connections, and ten thousand industrial connections. Out of the total, Gujarat has the highest number of connections, with nearly twenty-two lakhs domestic connections, nineteen thousand commercial, and five thousand industrial connections.

• With the increasing government initiatives to increase the uses of natural gas as cooking gas to reduce the percentage of dead people from the combustion of fossil fuels like woods, coal, or cow dung, PNG connections are expected to increase over the years.

• Completion of 9th and 10th CGD rounds is expected to add a large number of PNG domestic connections. It is expected to add nearly three crores PNG domestic connections by 2029, making the total connections to nearly 3.5 crores.
