The Global Packaged Chia Seed Market is expected to register a CAGR of 5.8%, during the forecast period of 2018-2023. Chia seeds are obtained from the plant Salvia hispanica, which is native to Southern Mexico and Guatemala. The seeds of chia are speckled brown or white, and have a faint nutty aroma and a crunchy texture. Due to its inherent nutritional content, packaged chia seed is regarded as a super food. Chia seed contains essential PUFA, Omega-3, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Omega-3 is an essential PUFA that offers various health benefits for eyes, bones, heart, etc.

Growing Demand for Ancient Grains

The increased demand for nutritional ancient grains and multi-cereal-based products as functional foods are driving the demand for chia seeds.
