The market is driven by numerous factors, such as rising demand for fresh water from municipal and electric power generation, along with growing ground and surface water pollution.
Increasing Demand for Biocides
Biocides are extensively used in cooling water treatment plants. Cooling water towers are ideal locations for the growth of biological organisms, such as bacteria, algae, fungi, sulphate-reducing bacteria, and protozoa. Thus, to maintain cooling water systems at their optimum efficiency, biocides are added to the water to remove the slimes, microbiological fouling, and biofilm. Additionally, biocides are also used on line or a part of a water cleaning program to control bio fouling in reverse osmosis membranes. These biocides are used prior to the RO system, to regulate bio-growth in the membrane.
Growing Demand in Municipal Water Treatment
Mexico is an emerging economy and the country is undergoing rapid industrialization. Water treatment chemicals are widely used in municipal wastewater. There is ongoing research in the country that suggests the government to majorly focus on developing municipal wastewater treatment plants that too mostly in the urban areas. In 2017, the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) of Mexico has invested USD 7.1 billion to improve the existing drinking water and municipal infrastructure, dams, and aqueducts. The government also started water treatment plans, such as projects for desalination plants, which will augment the usage of water treatment chemicals during the forecast period.
