Neodymium-doped double-clad fiber is a special fiber structure used in optical devices such as lasers and fiber amplifiers. It has a two-layer cladding structure, the central region of which is doped with neodymium plasma. The basic structure of Nd-doped double-clad fiber includes core, inner cladding and outer cladding. The core is a photoconductive region doped with neodymium ions, the active medium in the fiber that absorbs the energy of incident light and emits laser photons. The inner cladding is the first optical fiber layer outside the core, and its refractive index is slightly larger than that of the core, which plays a role in guiding light. The outer cladding is the second fiber layer outside the inner cladding with a lower refractive index to protect the inner cladding and core from the external environment. The main features of neodymium-doped double-clad fiber are high-power laser output and high-efficiency fiber amplification characteristics. By doping neodymium ions, the core region in the fiber can achieve efficient energy absorption and lasing emission, resulting in high-power lasing. At the same time, the double-clad structure can effectively control the transmission and coupling loss of light, improve the power carrying capacity of the fiber and the gain effect of the fiber amplifier. Neodymium-doped double-clad fibers are widely used in lasers, laser processing equipment, optical fiber amplifiers, medical equipment, scientific research and other fields. It plays an important role in the fields of industry and scientific research, and is used to realize high-power laser output and optical fiber signal amplification.
